In 2003, Karr was a 32-year-old New Yorker just enjoying life. But all that changed when on February 14, 2003, Carr was diagnosed with an extremely rare and incurable Stage IV cancer called epithelioid hemangioendothelioma affecting her liver and her lungs. With the slow-moving nature of her tumors, Carr decided to take what she calls a “watch and live” approach.
After her diagnosis and instead of succumbing to the disease, Carr decided to challenge her diagnosis head on. She attacked her cancer with a brand new nutritional lifestyle as she turned to nutrition to boost her immune system and increase her longevity. She also decided to make a documentary film about her journey with cancer.
She turned her experience into a series of successful self-help books and documentaries. In March 2007 the documentary Crazy Sexy Cancer was released, along with a companion book: Crazy Sexy Cancer Tips and since then she has gone ahead to write several books on nutrition.
Early in 2008, Carr also launched her online community, My Crazy Sexy Life (my.crazysexylife.com) which is a wellness website. which now has over 39,000 members.
Today, Karr is celebrating over a decade of “thriving with cancer,” and is now revered as one of the most prominent experts on healthy living.
You can turn those sour grapes into wine. It just depends on you.
